    • Open studio time must be reserved

    • Glazing, pick up, drop off and all other visits require appointments must be arranged & confirmed via e-mail

  • Everyone entering Supermud is required to wear a mask. Masks must be kept on, and must cover your nose and mouth at all times, while inside our studio

  • The City of New York has mandated everyone over the age of 12 to provide PROOF of VACCINATION when coming in to the studio—for classes, workshops, private lessons and open studio hours.  Once you’ve shown your card, we’ll make a note of it so you don’t have to show it every time you come.

  • Sign in online so we have your contact info and a record of your visit in case we need to reach you

  • Before entering the main studio, please stop in the bathroom and wash your hands thoroughly

  • All students should maintain a 6-foot distance from others when possible

  • Only ONE person should use the sink at a time

  • Only ONE person should use the glaze area at a time.

  • We want to minimize tool sharing.  If you have tools, please bring them. Supermud will have tools available, but once you’ve taken a tool, keep it on your shelf to reuse rather than putting it back.

  • Before using communal items - rolling pins, banding wheels, rulers etc.,  please use hand sanitizer.  And please wash, or wipe the items with disinfectant (as appropriate) before returning.  Check out cleaning instructions here

    • Please do a self-health screening before coming to Supermud.  If you feel sick or if you’ve been in contact with anyone who is sick, DO NOT COME TO THE STUDIO!

    • If YOU, OR ANYONE IN YOUR household has tested positive for COVID-19, they MUST notify us immediately.

All fees are due on or before the first day of class.

All materials including stoneware clay, tools and glazes are included in tuition.  In addition to a wide variety and number of shared studio tools, basic tool kits are available for purchase. Students are required to bring their own apron and towel. Each student is allocated a shelf at the beginning of the term to store his or her work and personal belongings. Use of porcelain and firing fees are additional charges (see below).

Firing Fees

For adult students, class work size is measured and a charge of $0.06 per cubic inch (rounded to 1/4 inch) is due prior to firing any work. There is a 2" minimum per dimension as well as a $1.30 minimum charge for firing. For children's classes, firing fees are included in the tuition.

Supermud is not responsible for providing make-up classes or issuing refunds for classes due to illness, emergency, weather or other events beyond the studio’s control. Please call the studio in case of inclement weather for information regarding any weather related studio closing.

Students may make up classes if space is available in another class. Please check with the studio manager before attending a make up class. All make up classes must be completed during the current term.

We are unable to offer make up classes to children (including Adult/Child class) due to space limitations.
