WINTER BREAK WORKSHOP SERIES 2025
We are offering a series of 3 part, hands-on workshops focusing on a variety of techniques & objects.

MAKING CLOSED FORMS
with Karina Cunningham
Monday 1-3pm December 8

Learn to create lidded pieces from a thrown closed form. Instruction will be given on how to throw and refine a closed shape, and how to cut into the form to create a beautifully fitted lid. We will also learn carving techniques that can be used to transform our lidded jars into candle or incense holders.
Basic throwing skills required.

PAINTING WITH UNDERGLAZE

Discover the possibilities of underglazes! In this workshop, students will learn how to use underglazes effectively. Come with drawings and ideas, or just come with bisqueware or greenware ready for decorating.

NERIKOMI
with Sam Neary

Learn how to create beautiful handbuilt marbled pieces with colored porcelain. Nerikomi is a technique of stacking and cutting colored clays to produce patterns. Sam will cover the whole process from start to finish including coloring your clay, marbling techniques and slab building—and will show you how to use your newly created slabs to make a pot that is truly unique.

SURFACE DECORATION

We’ll spend three weeks going over different surfaces decorating techniques you can use to elevate your pottery! Techniques we’ll be covering include: Mishima, water etching, sgraffito and wax resist design. Come enter a new world of ceramic illustration!
